Postcard From Earth premiered at the Sphere in October 2023 as the venue's first purpose-built original film. Director Darren Aronofsky shot on custom 18K cameras designed specifically for the Sphere's 16K interior LED dome — technology that did not exist before the project and was engineered alongside the film's production schedule. The narrative frames Earth's ecosystems from the perspective of a future generation that has left the planet. Shot locations include the Galápagos, Namibia, the Amazon, and Ecuador. The Sphere's 167,000-speaker Holoplot sound system provides discrete per-seat audio. 50 minutes, no intermission. Runs multiple times daily, interleaved with whatever concert residency is running in the venue. The most accessible way to experience Sphere technology without a concert-grade ticket price.
