Where to Stay in Las Vegas Without a Car: Walkable Hotel Areas That Make Sense

By VisitLasVegas.city EditorialJun 29, 20253 min read

Choosing where to stay in Las Vegas without a car is less about finding the "best" hotel and more about choosing a pocket where your plans are close together. The Strip is walkable in pieces, not as one giant casual stroll. Pick the wrong base and you will spend the trip paying for rideshares because everything is just far enough to be annoying.

Here is the practical way to choose a car-free hotel area.

Vdara and CityCenter area in Las Vegas

Quick Answer

Best areas without a car:

  • Center Strip: Bellagio, Cosmopolitan, Aria, Vdara, Park MGM.
  • Venetian/Wynn area: Venetian, Palazzo, Wynn, Encore, Fashion Show Mall.
  • South Strip: Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, MGM Grand, New York-New York if your plans are south.
  • Monorail-friendly: MGM Grand, Horseshoe/Paris, Flamingo, Harrah's/LINQ, Westgate, SAHARA.
  • Read getting around Las Vegas without a car before booking around transportation assumptions.

    Best Overall: Center Strip

Center Strip is the easiest first-timer answer. Vdara, Aria, Cosmopolitan, Bellagio, and Park MGM put you near restaurants, shows, shopping, and easy sightseeing.

This area works especially well if your plans include Bellagio fountains, Bellagio Conservatory, Aria, Cosmopolitan, Park MGM, T-Mobile Arena, or a central Strip restaurant plan.

    Best for North Strip

If you like polished resorts, the Wynn, Encore, Venetian, and Palazzo area is excellent. You can reach Fashion Show Mall, Grand Canal Shoppes, and a lot of strong dining without constantly ridesharing.

It is less ideal if most of your plans are Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, or south Strip shows.

    Best for Families

Families without a car should avoid over-wide plans. Mandalay Bay is great if Shark Reef, the pool, and south Strip are your focus. Vdara and Four Seasons are calmer choices if casino-floor exposure is a concern.

Pair this with Las Vegas with toddlers, things to do with kids, or things to do with teens.

    What to Avoid

Avoid choosing a hotel only because it is cheaper if every planned activity is far away. Avoid assuming the airport is connected to the Strip by rail. And avoid thinking "we can walk it" without checking bridge routes, heat, and how tired you will be after dinner.

The best car-free hotel is the one that removes decisions.
